European Gas Storage Finished Winter Above Five Year Range

TTF extends the rally from last week with below normal temperatures expected across Europe this week and a potential return to near normal in NW Europe at the weekend.

  • The cold start to April is supporting prices despite the high storage levels at the start of the injection season. European storage finished the withdrawal season above the previous five year range at the end of March at 55.65% with below normal demand enabling some injections in the second half of March. German gas consumption was 33.5% below the five year average in week 12.
  • Net European storage injections were up at 1,521GWh/d on 1 Apr compared to the five year average of 464GWh/d.
  • Storage in Germany is at 160.69TWh (64.3% full), Italy is at 112.83TWh (58.32%), Netherlands at 82.12TWh (58.07%), Austria at 64.87TWh (66.81%) and France at 37.3TWh (27.92%) according to GIE data for 1 Apr.

    • TTF SUM 24 up 5.5% at 58.28€/MWh
