Expectations Remain for Higher Energy Prices, Despite Softer Fuel Costs This Week

CZECHIA
  • Energy prices are a focus for domestic press, with CCS company data showing that domestic fuel prices are declining further, with diesel now below CZK 40/litre, falling by CZK 0.29 in a week, while unleaded declines by CZK 0.33 to CZK 39.57 over the same period.
  • Nonetheless, an IPSOS survey shows that almost half of Czech respondents expect energy prices to rise further in the future, with 80% of households respondents planning to invest in energy-savings measures.
  • No data or speeches set to cross Friday, however bond markets will keep an eye on the 2pm local time publication of the finance ministry’s quarterly debt management report. The report follows yesterday’s CZK 13.6bln bond auction, at which volumes reached the highest levels of the month.
