FERC Approved Key Gas Pipeline Projects

FERC approved two key natural gas pipeline projects last Thursday according to the regulator.

  • The regulator approved the permit for a 32-mile natural gas pipeline that would help fuel proposed gas-fired generation at the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Cumberland Fossil Plant.
  • Tennessee Gas Pipeline company filed an application with FERC for the proposed Cumberland Project in July 2022 in order to retire a nearby coal-fired power plant. Depending on permits, the firm was planning to start construction in August 2024.
  • FERC also granted the approval of a Texas-to-Louisiana project by Williams Cos., which aims to expand an existing pipeline and boost gas flow to the Gulf Coast.
