FGE Expects Dangote Oil Refinery Start Up in Early 2024

REFINING

Nigeria’s 650kbpd Dangote oil refinery is likely to start operations in early 2024, FGE said in a note, compared with a statement from the operator that diesel and jet fuel production will start in October.

  • The refinery has not run any test cargoes yet and ship-tracking shows no evidence of crude imports to the refinery, FGE said.
  • “The likelihood of a 1Q 2024 start up, at a rate of 250kbpd, is starting to look more probable”, the note said.
  • The Dangote Group Executive said earlier this month, the refinery is ready to receive crude and the refinery is just waiting for the first vessel. Operations will begin in phases, and the first phase will start with 350-370kpd of diesel and jet fuel output in October.
