Finland to Restrict Access to LNG Port Following Pipeline Leak

LNG

The Finnish government will tighten access to key parts of the country’s Inkoo port, the location of an FSRU vessel for LNG imports, according to Reuters.

  • The Finnish government will seek to add Inkoo to a national decree concerning restrictions on movement and residence restrictions, Reuters said.
  • "The decree contains items where movement and residence are restricted under the Police Act," The Finnish Interior Ministry said in a statement.
  • The move follows damage to the Balticconnector pipeline linking Finland to Estonia which is being investigated as an act of sabotage.
  • The outage with the pipeline increases Finland’s dependence on the Inkoo FSRU terminal, as the Nordic nation is cut off from flows via the Baltic states.
