Firm SSE Powers Up 443MW Scottish Wind Farm

Renewable firm SSE Renewables has started producing power at its 443MW Viking wind farm in Scotland, with full commissioning expected in the summer of 2024, the firm said, cited by Renews.biz.
- The power plant has 103 – 4.3MW – turbines and were installed in August 2023.
- Construction of the farm was started in the autumn of 2020.
- Separately, the firm will submit an offshore planning consent application to the Irish Planning Authority board for its 800MW Arklow Bank Wind Park 2 project in the Irish Sea. Works on this project are expected to begin in 2026, with commissioning in 2029.
