Firms Off Session Lows After Strong 3 Year Auction, CPI In View

  • Cash tsys finished 1-2 bps cheaper across the major benchmarks on Tuesday.
  • Pressure on tsys was seen as corporate issuance related hedging weighed early in the NY session.
  • Fedpseak from NY Fed President Williams saw losses marginally extend as he noted that core services are still high, also reiterating comments seen in previous communique that if additional rate hikes are appropriate the Fed will lift rates.
  • Tsys firmed off session lows as the latest 3 Year auction stopped through, the bid/cover ratio was the strongest since March 2018 and strong indirect take up was observed.
  • The latest talks on the US debt ceiling did not produce any movement. House Leader McCarthy said congressional leaders will meet with President Biden again on Friday.
