First Sokol Crude Output from Sakhalin-1 Since May

The first tanker of Sokol crude from Sakhalin-1 in five months has departed for South Korea according to ship tracking data. Rosneft last week closed a tender to sell six cargoes of Sokol crude for loading in November to early December in a sign that output from the Sakhalin-1 project may be recovering.

  • The project is increasing output after ExxonMobil, the prior operator, exited the project this month transferring the project to a Russian operator. Sakhalin-1 loaded about 10 cargoes a month, producing about 227kbpd last year.
