Flatter Late Friday, COVID Matters Still Front & Centre Locally

AUSSIE BONDS

The bid in U.S. Tsys allowed Aussie bond futures to flatten in after-hours trade at the backend of last week, leaving YM +1.0 and XM +3.5 vs. Sydney settlement come the end of play on Friday.

  • There is a distinct lack of local calendar risk on Monday, which will leave the local COVID situation (with another record number of daily cases outlined in Sydney on Saturday, resulting in tighter restrictions/monitoring) and broader headline flow at the fore. We will also see the latest round of scheduled ACGB purchases from the RBA.
  • NAB have mandated for a senior 5-Year benchmark round of A$ issuance.
