Foreign Ministry Calls On Other Nations To Recognise Breakaway Republics

Russia's Foreign Ministry has called on other nations to recognise the breakaway Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics of Ukraine. So far only the Syrian gov't has recognised the LPR and DPR.

• Lavrov also seeks to put aside concerns about the Western reaction to the recognition of the DPR/LPR, saying that the reaction from the West has been and will be 'predictible' and that 'Russia is used to sanctions'.
• Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has explicitly called for the complete shutdown of the Nord Stream II gas pipeline from Russia to Germany in retaliation to the recognition and invasion of the LPR/DPR.
• German Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke to Japanese PM Fumio Kishida earlier today on the situation in Ukraine. The German gov't has refused to explicitly say whether the pipeline will be subject to a shutdown.
