Freeport LNG Exports First Cargo From Storage Tanks

Freeport exported its first cargo on Sunday from storage tanks since the explosion and fire that the facility in June, data from S&P Global Commodity Insights showed.

  • The BP-chartered Kmarin Diamond departed the Texas facility on Sunday morning and it appeared to be at least partially laden.
  • The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission gave greenlight on 9 Feb for Freeport to resume ship loading.
  • The full restart of the facility still requires further approvals. Significant uncertainty remained in the market about the timeline for the return of feedgas demand at the facility.
  • As of last week, Freeport hadn’t yet sought approval from US pipeline regulators – a sign that a full restart at the plant is still some time away.
