French Nuclear Reactor Availability Curtailed By Strike Action

French nuclear reactor availability fell by 1.33GW on Tuesday while total power generation capacity declined by 7.33W due to the ongoing strike action against the country’s new pension reform, EdF remit data show.

  • Workers at EdF are striking from Monday 10am until Tuesday 9pm, remit data show.
  • Output at the 1.3GW Cattenom 4 reactor has been reduced by 600MW. Output at the 910MW Gravelines 5 reactor has been reduced by 730MW.
  • On Monday, the ongoing strike action curtailed the country’s nuclear availability by 4.7GW, while total power generation capacity was reduced by 7.6GW.
  • In addition, France’s four LNG import terminals have been blocked on Tuesday as part of the country’s industrial action.
