FOREX: G10 FX price action has generally been lukewarm so far as the regional
data calendar is thin, while there has been little fresh on the news wires to
move the needle. Sterling is the best G10 performer. It has shown some strength
after the recent polls suggested that the Tory lead has widened, while PM
Johnson said that all Conservative candidates standing in the upcoming general
election have signed a pledge to support his Brexit deal if elected.
- Elsewhere, the Antipodeans are on the back foot as tensions in Hong Kong have
escalated and participants look for fresh clues re: Sino-U.S. trade relations. A
slightly softer yuan has further limited AUD & NZD.
- It is a very quiet start to the week on the data front, while today's list of
central bank speakers includes ECB's de Guindos, de Cos and Lane, as well as
Fed's Mester.
