Gasoil Spreads Surge on Offline EU Capacity

Diesel spreads surge as multiple French refineries have shut down in recent days due to strike action therefore reducing diesel production. European offline capacity is expected to reach 1.5mbpd in October. Fuel switching from gas to oil due to surging European gas prices are adding to support for diesel spreads. Other global supply risks exist ahead of the implementation of the EU ban on Russian seaborne products in early Feb.

  • The prompt Gasoil spreads has rallied from a low of 18$/mt on Sep 15 up to 50$/mt. The Dec22-Dec23 spreads is up from 80 $/mt to 133$/mt in a similar time period.
  • Gasoil OCT 22-NOV 22 down -0.75$/mt at 49$/mt
  • Gasoil NOV 22-DEC 22 unchanged at 38.25$/mt
  • Gasoil DEC 22-DEC 23 up 10$/mt at 135.5$/mt
