Gasoline Tankers Diverted From New York

Tankers laden with gasoline and headed to New York have been diverted in recent weeks due to poor regional demand, according to Bloomberg.

  • Three cargoes have seen diversions from New York while carrying gasoline, Bloomberg said.
  • The Sea Caelum, carrying 37k mt of gasoline from Klaipeda was diverted from New York to Puerto Rico, according to Vortexa.
  • The Salacgriva, carrying 37k mt of gasoline from Sweden also changed its destination to Amsterdam.
  • The Torm Aslaug, similarly with 37k mt of gasoline from Saudi Arabia’s Jizan changed its destination to the Bahamas.
  • Weak demand and high supply, as refiners produce excess when trying to maximise diesel output.
