Gasunie Recommends To Keep Groningen Gas Field Open

Gasunie recommends the Dutch government to keep the Groningen gas field in operation beyond the scheduled closing date on 1 Oct according to a letter from the Dutch Secretary of State for Mining Hans Vijlbrief.

  • The Dutch government has said it is possible to end operations at the field on 1 Oct “providing there is sufficient imported gas”.
  • The field was scheduled for closer because of earthquake safety concerns.
