Germany and Oman in Talks for Long Term LNG Supply

Germany and Oman are in advanced talks for a long term deal for the supply of LNG for at least 10 years according to Reuters sources.

  • The deal would be for the supply of 0.5-1mtpa to Germany with one source suggesting around 0.8mtpa over 10 years according to Reuters. Uniper was reported to be involved in the talks.
  • Germany is looking to secure LNG supplies to replace the missing Russian pipeline gas. Germany has three LNG terminals now open at Wilhelmshaven, Lubmin and Brunsbüttel. Since the start in mid-December 2022 cargos have come from US, Spain, Africa and Middle East.
