Germany Charter Additional FRSU for Winter 22

Germany will charter an additional FRSU to be installed for winter 22 according to the energy ministry in an emailed statement.

  • This will be the fifth FSRU chartered by Germany as they reduced dependence on Russian gas. Economy Minister Robert Habeck will present the plans at a news conference later today.
  • “The federal government has already chartered four floating liquefied natural gas terminals, each with a capacity of at least 5 billion cubic meters per year,” the ministry said.
  • Germany has cut Russian gas supplies down to about 30% with higher imports from the Netherlands, Belgium and Norway.
  • Chancellor Olaf Scholz said this week that while Germany isn’t “out of the woods” yet the government is monitoring the situation “in a very much more relaxed way.”
