Germany Pulling in Mars Crude as Russian Alternative

A second cargo of Gulf of Mexico crude has headed for Germany this month as the country aims to wean itself off Russian flows according to Refinitiv vessel tracking.

  • The Ise Princess tanker loaded 570,000 bbls of Mars Sour crude off the Louisiana coast and is on its way to the Baltic Sea port of Rostock, Germany.
  • Europe is expected to look to Norway, the US, the Middle East and West Africa for alternative crude sources.
