Germany To Tender 25GW Of Gas Power Plants By 2030

The German government will prepare tenders for an additional 25 gigawatts of hydrogen-ready gas-fired power plants by 2030 to reach the country’s climate goals, Economy Minister Robert Habeck said in Berlin.

  • “We have to start the tenders this year so that these large volumes that have to be built by 2030 can start with the construction and approval processes,” Habeck said.
  • Energy regulator Bnetza estimated in a study that about 17-21GW of capacity will be needed to guarantee baseload power.
