Germany’s SEFE To Resume LNG Supply To GAIL With Four Cargoes

India’s GAIL will receive four LNG cargoes each in May and June from Germany’s SEFE, formerly known as Gazprom Marketing and Trading, GAIL chairman, Sandeep Kumar Gupta said.

  • SEFE has resumed full LNG supplies under its term contract, after supplies stopped in mid-2022 from the former Gazprom unit, Gupta said.
  • GAIL received two LNG cargoes each in March and April.
  • Gupta expects to see a 6-7% growth in Indian gas demand in the financial year ending in March 2024.
  • LNG buyers in India have been looking for long-term gas supply deals to reduce the impact of spot price volatility and to support the government’s plans to boost natural gas use.
