Global Airline Capacity Rises 0.6% on the Week: OAG

Global airline capacity is set to rise by 0.6% on the week to 107.26m seats in the week commencing Feb. 12, according to OAG.

  • Domestic capacity is up 0.85% to 66.03m seats, while international capacity is only up marginally by 0.19% at 41.23m seats.
  • The weekly rise has slowed compared to the week prior, where total capacity jumped by 1.92%, likely the result of the close of the Lunar New Year holiday in China.
  • For whole-month February, the US domestic market – the largest market, is set to rise by 3.7% on the year at 76.8m seats.
  • China’s domestic market is set to rise by 16.3% on the year to 72.25m seats.
  • Central and Northeast Asia are the regions with the highest growth on the year in Feb, up 30.4% and 23.7% respectively.
