Global Jet Fuel Demand to Decline Further: BNEF

Global passenger jet fuel demand is expected to slide on the week, maintaining an eight-week consecutive decline, according to BNEF.

  • Jet fuel demand will fall by 0.3% to 6.29m b/d in the week to Oct. 30.
  • Driving the fall during the week is a softening in demand from Western Europe and Asia, taking 12.5k b/d out of consumption.
  • Broken down by flight type, Jet fuel demand from domestic and international flights is set for an on the week 0.03% rise and a 0.5% fall respectively.
  • In China, domestic flights are schedules to rise by 39.3% over the next four weeks, according to current schedules. However, China often removes scheduled flights at short notice.
  • Jet fuel prices, as assessed on Oct. 19, were relatively unchanged compared to Oct. 16, Bloomberg said.
  • US Gulf Coast 54 rose by 97 cents/b, Rotterdam down 50 cents/b and Singapore jet kerosene down $3.68/b.
