Global LNG imports up 8% on week: BNEF

Global weekly LNG imports rose 8% in the week to Aug. 27, reaching 7.7 million metric tons, according to BNEF.

  • Deliveries into Northwest Europe declined by 0.2m mt, while imports into South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Americas each rose by 0.3m mt.
  • Meanwhile, global LNG exports decreased by 4% to 7.4m mt, with Qatari supply falling by 0.2m mt and Australian down by 0.3m mt.
  • In Asia, demand is expected to be elevated over the next two weeks as the region will likely see cooling demand above the 10-year average for the same period.
  • Temperatures in major European markets will be in line with or slightly lower than 10-year average levels for this period.
