Global Weekly LNG Imports Rose on North Asian Demand

Global weekly LNG imports rose by 38% to 8.7mn tons during the week of 30 October to 5 November, driven by increased volumes into North Asia according to BNEF.

  • LNG imports into JKCT rose to 4.84mn tons, up from 2.74mn tons the week prior. Shipments into Japan increased by 0.3mn tons to 1.31mn tons, while South Korean LNG imports rose by 0.79mn tons to 1.08mn tons.
  • China imported 1.93mn tons of LNG during 30 October – 5 November, compared with 1.12mn tons the week before.
  • NW Europe and Italy imported 1.68mn tons of LNG, up from 1.25mn tons the week before.
  • Weekly LNG exports fell by 1% on the week to 7.6mn tons. Malaysian shipments dipped by 0.22mn tons on the week to 0.47mn tons. US LNG exports rose by 0.23mn tons week on week to 2.05mn tons. Egypt exported no LNG during the period.
