GOP Voters - Efforts To Remove Trump From Ballot Are Politically Motivated

US

A new survey from FiveThirtyEight/Ipsos has found that a strong majority (73%) of Republican voters believe that efforts underway to remove former President Donald Trump from the 2024 presidential primary ballot, in states including Colorado and Maine, are "politically motivated."

  • Furthermore, 47% of Republican voters believe that such efforts are more likely to help him win.
  • Trump yesterday urged the Supreme Court to overturn Colorado's decision to bar him from the state’s primary ballot, warning that upholding the decision would, “unleash chaos.”
  • Trump’s submission to the Supreme Court warns: “The court should put a swift and decisive end to these ballot-disqualification efforts, which threaten to disenfranchise tens of millions of Americans and which promise to unleash chaos and bedlam if other state courts and state officials follow Colorado’s lead...” ·
  • The New York Times notes: “The case will be argued on Feb. 8, and the court will probably decide it quickly, perhaps by March 5, when many states, including Colorado, hold primaries.”
