Government Announces Utility Price Hikes For Households

  • Hungary government announces utility price hikes (gas, electricity) to shore up the budget.
  • According to BBG, gas prices above average consumption in August-September to increase to HUF21.4/MJ and to HUF22/MJ in October-December.
    • Current gas prices are between 2.2 and 3.6 HUF/MJ.
  • Electricity prices above average consumption to rise to 70.1 HUF/kWh, nearly doubling the current price of 36 HUF/kWh (BBG).
