Government May Present Energy Price Cap Details

  • Polish government may present details of a plan to introduce cap for power prices for local governments after holding its weekly cabinet meeting.
    • According to reports from RMF, there are plans to introduce maximum energy prices for local governments, small and medium-sized enterprises and the so-called sensitive customers at around PLN780 per MWh.
    • Says cap for local governments will only apply to specific services such as transport, education, hospitals and that power utilities would be compensated for the cap.
  • Separately, Poland's ruling party PiS will likely forgo a major cabinet overhaul to at least end-winter, but minor tweaks might be introduced, DGP reports citing party insiders.
