GILT SUMMARY: Government spokesman James Slack has stated that Brexit talks will
continue on Thursday with discussions focused on the environment. While the
government has played down recent accusations that talks are stalling, Labour
leader Jeremy Corbyn told a party conference today that the government has not
offered any significant compromises.
- It also appears that May is seeking to bring forward an intended vote on the
Withdrawal Agreement, potentially before European elections take place.
- The early morning gilt rally has subsided with yields still 1-2bp lower on the
day. Current yields: 22-year 0.724%, 5-year 0.858%, 10-year 1.122%, 30-year
1.659%.
- The Jun-19 gilt future trades at 128.03, in the middle of the day's range and
16 ticks off the high.
- Short sterling futures are 0.5-2.0 ticks higher.
- Following a quiet spell on the data front, tomorrow will see the release of
