Greene / Ramsden due today

BOE

Today sees a couple of MPC members make media media appearances:

  • First we will hear from Megan Greene on Bloomberg TV's UK show (which runs from 9:30-10:00GMT). Bloomberg has yet to confirm what the topic of conversation will be, but we assume there will be questions on why she is still voting to raise rates (rather than voting to keep rates on hold with the majority of the MPC). She has not really spoken a lot directly on monetary policy since joining the MPC and today will also likely see her asked about her interpretation of this week's UK data (private sector regular AWE was a tenth lower than the MPR forecast while services CPI was 3 tenths below forecast - see MNI UK Inflation Insight).
  • We will also hear from Ramsden at 15:45GMT today as he speaks on a panel entitled "Evolution of liquidity risk in an environment of higher interest rates" at the ESRB annual conference. Given the topic of the panel, he is unlikely to say much of significance on future monetary policy developments. The event will be live streamed on this page.
