Handling Of Israel Presents Another Drag On President Biden

US

A new survey from Gallup has found that President Biden’s handling of foreign affairs is adding a new drag on his approval rating.

  • Gallup notes that since 2021 Biden's approval on both the eeconomy and foreign affairs, "have followed similar trajectories. Yet, in 2022, when inflation was at a 40-year high, and earlier this year, Biden’s foreign affairs ratings were significantly better than his economic ratings.
  • "Biden’s current rating on the economy is just one percentage point higher than his lowest in 2022, while his foreign affairs rating is the lowest by six points.”
  • Gallup notes further issues for Biden. Although his approval amongst Democrat has strengthen slightly, his approval rating has cratered amongst independents: “Biden’s approval rating from political independents has dropped eight points over the past month to a record-low 27% for that group, while he continues to earn minimal approval, just 5%, from Republicans.”
  • A year out from the Presidential election, the additional pressure from a rejection of his foreign policy agenda puts Biden's approval rating below 40% - a mark which has historical seen the incumbent lose a presidential election.
