Headline/Twitter-Watching For Fiscal Direction

US TSYS SUMMARY

Treasuries have completely reversed Wednesday's late rally, with Pres Trump appearing to backtrack overnight on stimulus (at least, on some aspects). Will be plenty of headline/Twitter-watching this morning to see where we stand on fiscal matters.

  • Steepening has tentatively resumed, 5s/30s up 2+bps from late Weds low, but still 4+bps off Weds highs. The 2-Yr yield is up 0.6bps at 0.1527%, 5-Yr is up 2.2bps at 0.3339%, 10-Yr is up 3.5bps at 0.7702%, and 30-Yr is up 3.3bps at 1.5696%.
  • Dec 10-Yr futures (TY) down 7.5/32 at 138-26 (L: 138-25.5 / H: 139-04.5)
  • Nothing really on the data front; attention on the FOMC minutes at 1900ET (we'll put out a little preview w sell-side expectations).
  • Fed speakers include NY's Williams (1400ET and 1500ET), Kashkari/Bostic/Rosengren (1440ET) on a Racism+Economy panel, though event runs through the afternoon w appearances by all 3, and Chi's Evans (1630ET).
  • Also of note, the Dept of Justice to hold a rare press conference at 1100ET on a "national security matter".
  • Supply: $35B 10-Yr note auction at 1300ET is the highlight, 105-/154-day bills at 1130ET too. NY Fed buys~$1.750B of 20-30Yr Tsys.
