Axios reporting that a group of House Democrat lawmakers are, "reviving a fight over President Biden's candidacy," after a brief respite following the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump. The groups action comes in light of reports that the Democratic National Committee intends to hold a virtual roll call of delegates to confirm Biden as Democratic Party nominee weeks in advance of the August 19 Democratic Party Convention.
- Axios reported earlier: "The [Democratic National Committee's] current plan is to train state party chairs next week on how to conduct the electronic voting in a secure way. The window for voting is likely to open on July 29 and conclude by Aug. 5, according to people familiar with the matter."
- If the DNC timeline goes to plan, Biden would only need to hold the Democrat rebellion against his candidacy at bay for around two more weeks.
- The House Democrat letter reads: "We respectfully but emphatically request that you cancel any plans for an accelerated 'virtual roll call' and further refrain from any extraordinary procedures that could be perceived as curtailing legitimate debate."
- Polymarket now sees the chance of Biden withdrawing from the race at 34% - significantly lower than highs above 70% last week.
