Houston Ship Channel Remains Closed for Oil Tankers

The Houston ship channel, which provides access to multiple refineries and oil-exporting terminals, remains closed for oil tankers July 9, according to Moran shipping, cited by Bloom

  • Galveston-Texas City is awaiting completion of a survey to reopen for ships smaller than oil tankers
  • Brazos pilots that service the Freeport areas advise the channel looks good and are awaiting USGC approval to resume service.
  • The majority of Houston, Galveston and Texas City surveys are expected to be completed today, although Freeport will be surveyed July 10, Bloomberg said.
  • Terminals are still completing post-storm assessments and may resume cargo movements today.
