Hungary PM's CoS: Chance Of EU Budget Deal Being Reached Today: RTRS

According to Reuters, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's chief of staff Gergely Gulyas has stated that there is a chance that a deal on the EU budget could be reached at today's European Council summit.

  • While not a commitment that a deal on the long-term EU budget, and its associated EU750bn COVID-19 recovery fund, will be reached the language is much more positive than that used only a week ago.
  • A week ago, Gulyas said to Reuters that Hungary could not agree to the budget in its [then] current form.
