IAEA Restricted From Main Nuclear Plant: RTRS

IRAN

Reuters reporting that inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have had their access to Iran's largest nuclear site at Natanz restricted for the past several weeks. The report states that according to a Western diplomat, Iran has restricted access to the site citing an attack on the plant in the spring that Tehran blames on Israel.

  • While the report goes onto say the issue is close to being resolved, it comes at a tense time. • Following the expiry of the Additional Protocol that Iran was subject to up until last week, IAEA inspectors have not had to some nuclear monitoring capabilities, with the article stating that so far Iran has not replied to IAEA requests to extend this.
