ICE Gasoil Open Interest Falls to Lowest Since May

ICE Gasoil futures open interest has fallen so far in October from 0.725m on 26 Sep to 0.647m. Daily aggregate futures traded volumes have averaged nearly 30k higher than last month at 335k so far in Oct although options volumes have fallen well below normal since mid week.

  • Brent crude futures open interest has edged higher this week up to 2.207m but still below levels as high as 2.335m seen in September. Brent daily traded volumes have dipped back to average levels seen in Sep with futures at 1.15m and options at 175k yesterday after surging higher at times so far this month.
  • Nymex WTI open interest has however dipped slightly to 1.719m from up at nearly 1.8m earlier this month while aggregate traded volumes have followed the Brent move lower. WTI aggregate futures daily traded volumes were yesterday at 1.06m and options at 145k.
  • Nymex ROB gasoline futures open interest has picked up this week to 0.327m after the decline in late September although with traded volumes slightly above normal at 196k yesterday.
