India Showing Little Sign of Joining Russian Oil Price Cap

India is not going to join the global initiative to impose a price cap on Russian oil, since it is getting big discounts on crude shipments from Russia according to Indian news outlets, citing sources.

  • "Overall, the initiative being pitched by the U.S. is positive for India. On the other hand, Russia has threatened to stop supplies to anyone participating in this plan. That doesn't leave us anywhere. In that case, why would we want to be part of it? The deal here is that we have to balance our interests," an anonymous senior government official is quoted as saying.
