Industrial Production Sharply Weaker On The Year

NORWAY

Norwegian industrial production fell -8.7% Y/Y in August (vs -1.5% prior), while manufacturing production rose +1.4% Y/Y (vs -2.3% prior; both working day adjusted).

  • On a seasonally adjusted basis, production rose +0.5% M/M (vs +2.1% prior), while manufacturing was +1.5% M/M (vs -1.3% prior).
  • The Y/Y manufacturing figure was buoyed the ships, boats and oil platforms component which rose +19.7% Y/Y.
  • While industrial production has a limited correlation with the monthly GDP indicator, todays print will serve as an input into Monday's August GDP estimate.
  • NOK currently trades slightly lower against the G10 today, with weaker Brent prices weighing again.
