Iran and Iraq in Agreement over OPEC: Minister

Iranian oil Minister Javed Owji said Dec. 27 that he thanked Iraqi officials for cutting oil output and said both nations share a common position vis a vis OPEC+, according to Reuters.

  • "Iran and Iraq have a common position regarding OPEC and OPEC+. We thank the Iraqi officials for the voluntary cuts they implemented to improve (oil) prices. We have had negotiations about future issues related to OPEC and OPEC+," Owji said cited by Reuters.
  • Iraq will start voluntary cuts of 220k b/d from January.
  • The comments followed announcements that Iraq and Iran will form joint committees to develop joint oil fields.
  • "We reached acceptable agreements on the renovation of Iraqi refineries by Iranian experts and a committee to follow up on this issue has been created," Owji said cited by Reuters.
