Iraq Still Awaits Response From Turkey On Exports Restart

Iraq is still awaiting response from Turkey in order to resume exports from its northern oil fields to the Turkish port of Ceyhan, Iraq’s deputy oil minister, Basim Mohammed Khudair, said.

  • “We are waiting on the green light from Turkey,” Khudair said.
  • The “Turkish side is still conducting checks on the pipeline,” he added.
  • “The government, through the Ministry of Oil and SOMO, is working diligently and continuously to reach the stage of exporting the region’s oil through Ceyhan,” an Iraqi government spokesperson, Basim al-Awadi, said.
  • Baghdad has signed another contract with companies buying oil from northern Iraq, including the Kurdish region, while three more contracts are to be signed.
  • Kurdish and Iraqi federal officials have agreed that the selling of oil from northern fields will only be carried out by Iraq’s SOMO.
  • Turkey halted pipeline flows from Iraq’s northern fields on 25 March.
