Iron Ore Exports From Australia Drop

As a reminder export data from Australia's Port Hedland was released late yesterday, exports in April totaled 45.09 million, down from 46.7 million tons in March, and 45.3 million in the same period last year. In April 36.3 million tons were shipped to China.

  • Earlier this week data compiled by Bloomberg showed shipments from Australia including Port Hedland declined to 17 million tons in the week to May 7, from 18.5 million tons in the previous week. The biggest drop was from Cape Lambert, a hub for Rio Tinto, which saw a 1 million ton drop to 3.7 million tons.
