ISRAEL: Axios: White House Urges Compromise In Judicial Reform

Barak Ravid at Axios has Tweeted an exchange with a member of the White House National Security Council urging compromise after today's news that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Nentanyahu intends to unliterally pursue elements of his judicial overhaul plan, despite the breakdown of talks with opposition.

  • Ravid: "The White House National Security Council spokesperson told me: 'It's up to Israelis to find the best path forward. But as close friends of Israel, we urge them to reach a compromise with the broadest possible base of popular support. We hope there will be genuine compromise.'"
  • Earlier today, a 'senior official in the White House' told Ravid that: "Legal reform requires broad public support. We hope there will be a real compromise."
