Japan Sep Exports +13.0% Y/Y; 7th Monthly Rise

  • Japan's exports rose 13.0% y/y in September, slowing from the 26.2% y/y growth marked in August, marking the 7th straight monthly rise.
  • Imports reported a seventh straight rise by 38.6% y/y in September, decelerating from the 44.7% y/y increase last month.
  • Trade balance in September was a deficit of Y622.8 billion, compared with the previous Y635.4 billion surplus.
  • Exports to the European Union and China rose 12.1% y/y and 10.3% y/y respectively, and to the United States fell 3.3% y/y.
  • Imports from the European Union increased 25.0% y/y, and from the United States and China increased by 36.3% y/y and 23.8% y/y respectively.
