Japan Jun Exports +19.4% Y/Y; 16th Monthly Rise

  • Japan's exports rose for 16th straight month by 19.4% y/y in June, following the 15.8% y/y growth marked in May.
  • Imports jumped another 46.1% y/y in June, after rising 48.9% y/y last month, marking the 17 monthly rise.
  • Trade balance in June was a deficit of Y1.38 trillion, narrowing from the previous Y2.38 trillion deficit.
  • Exports to the European Union and the United States rose 22.1% y/y and 15.7% y/y respectively, and to China increased 8.3% y/y.
  • Imports from the European Union increased 18.4% y/y, and from the United States and China increased by 25.2% y/y and 33.3% y/y respectively.
