JGBS: Japan to trim annual government bond issuance next fiscal year (RTRS
sources)
- Japan plans to issue a slightly lower amount of government bonds in the next
fiscal year beginning in April 2020 from the current fiscal year's levels, two
government officials with direct knowledge of the matter said on Wednesday. The
Ministry of Finance is set to sell 128.8 trillion yen ($1.2 trillion) of
Japanese government bonds next fiscal year, down from this fiscal year's 129.4
trillion yen, the officials told Reuters on condition of anonymity because the
plan has not yet been announced. Of the total, issuance of JGBs with maturity of
40 years will be increased by 600 billion yen from the current fiscal year to 3
trillion yen, the sources said.

- Similar to other reports, likely helping put a modest bid into JGB futures,
with the super-long end lagging in cash trade (on the increased 40-Year JGB
issuance chatter), allowing some twist steepening.
