Kazakhstan Cuts Kashagan Output By 100kbpd

Kazakhstan reduced output by around 100kbpd of its Kashagan oil field after it restricted gas re-injection according to people familiar with the matter.

  • The sources did not give a timeline of the output cut.
  • The reduction came after the detection of an increase in the level of hydrogen sulphide at the production island, where the venture has wells.
  • The field produced an average of around 374kbpd of liquids in 2021 according to ENI.
  • Kazakhstan total crude and condensate output stood at 7.58mn tons, or 1.84mbpd, in April according to Bloomberg calculations from government data.
