Kazakhstan in Talks for 10bcm/yr Gas Pipeline From Russia

Kazakhstan is in discussions to build a gas pipeline from Russia according to Kazakhstan Energy Minister Bolat Akchulakov.

  • The pipeline with capacity of 10bcm/year would be for domestic gas requirements.
  • Kazakhstan could build a gas pipeline with a capacity of 20bcm to 30bcm per year for Russian gas transit to the south.
  • Gas output from Kazakhstan fell by 4% y/y in 2022 to 51.7bcm and they plan to produce 53.5bcm of gas next year.
