OIL

Kazakhstan’s crude and condensate production edged lower to 7.81mn tons in March after an unplanned work the Tengiz oil field shut down operations at one production train according to Bloomberg.

  • Total output of crude and condensate for March was 7.81m tons, equal to 1.84mbpd, down by 10kbpd, or 1.85mbpd in February. The country’s highest recorded production was 1.91mbpd in February 2020.
  • Excluding condensate, the country’s March crude production is estimated at 1.58mbpd, 45kbpd below its OPEC+ target according to Kazakhstan’s Information-Analytical Centre of Oil & Gas.
  • Output at Kazakhstan’s giant Tengiz oil field was curtailed because one of the deposit’s six production trains was briefly taken offline for what appeared to be unplanned work. A separate train was briefly out of action in February.
  • The only planned work at Tengiz this year is due to be carried out in the third quarter.
