Koch Brothers' Political Network Endorses Haley In Republican Primary

US

The New York Times reporting that Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP), the political network founded by the Koch brothers, is endorsing former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley in the Republican presidential primary race - a major coup for Haley as her campaign continues to gather momentum with the Republican establishment and GOP donors.

  • The endorsement likely confirms Haley's position as the second placed GOP candidate but former President Trump's strong lead, across all primary metrics, means Haley will require a major polling surge to pull off a surprise win at the Iowa caucuses on January 15.
  • NYT notes the endorsement, "will give [Haley] access to a direct-mail operation, field workers to knock on doors and people making phone calls to prospective voters in Iowa and .... money to spend on television advertisements."
  • AFP, which has never before engaged in a presidential election, said in a memo Trump and Biden, "will only further perpetuate the country’s downward spiral in politics," stating that Haley, "offers America the opportunity to turn the page on the current political era..."
  • AFP states: "...our internal polling consistently shows that Nikki Haley is by far the strongest candidate Republicans could put up against Joe Biden in a general election – winning every key battleground state and up nationally by nearly 10 points. While our polling shows Donald Trump loses to Joe Biden, Nikki Haley outperforms Trump by 8 to 14 points in the key Presidential battleground states."
